Vermont Wedding Photographer

If you're looking for a professional Vermont wedding photographer, for your big day I've decided years ago to include the engagement photoshoot in all of my wedding photography packages regardless of which wedding photography package you choose.

I've found that this makes for more relaxed couples when they're in front of the camera for their wedding photos. This also helps us realize your love story and it's so much fun getting to know our couples. It can be sometimes awkward for a couple to show up and have never met until their wedding day. This will not only help us both be more relaxed, but you'll also get a sense of how I work with you during the engagement session.

As we know and expect every couple has a different level of comfort and confidence while in front of the camera. During the engagement photo session, I'll try a variety of different poses that I think will be the most flattering for you and your partner while making sure you're as comfortable as possible.

It's not easier for the couple but for me the wedding photographer I work under these types of stressful situations a lot of weekends during the wedding season in Vermont. It is my job to provide you with images that will show your friends and family members the joy that lives within your wedding photography gallery. I want you and your fiancé to have your love not only being photographed in a creative, relaxed, and compelling way I want you to feel as if you can let go and really be in the moment sharing your lives as one for all in the world to see. It's the experience that the best wedding photographers provide their clients. A wedding isn't just another day at a photo shoot, it's the main event many of you have been waiting for your entire life.

How I see myself as a wedding photographer

If you're looking for a fun and organic photojournalistic for all of those priceless candid photos blended with a traditional documentary style, this would best describe how I love to photograph a wedding. The longest part of the day you'll spend is if you have a large family who wants all of the family portraits. So I try and streamline this process by getting these done after the first look if you're trying to not spend a lot of time away from your guests. I would suggest working this out in our pre-planning meeting so we can talk it through.

I try my best not to be intrusive and make it known that I'm taking countless photos with the element of surprise. Catching the single tear rolling down your father's cheek as he tries to hold his composer or the cuteness of the ring bearer and flower girl walking back up the aisle hand and hand. It's about creating a visual story for me, as the natural beauty of your wedding day in Vermont truly is what I love to photograph. Showing off this natural beauty of the day and representing your wedding within your wedding portfolio.

Why have your destination weddings in Vermont?

Vermont has some of the most interesting natural backgrounds and scenery of any other state that I've seen or visited date for a wedding photographer. You'll be able to have your wedding within one of the four-season of your choice whether you're planning a summer, fall, winter, or spring wedding in Vermont. You'll not be disappointed with your wedding in the green mountain state.

So if you're having a destination wedding here in Vermont, I was born and raised here so I know all the jaw-dropping places to capture your wedding portraits. If you are interested in beautiful photographs with a natural background with stunning surroundings we would be able to suggest numerous wedding venues just let us know which part of the state you're thinking about choosing to get married in.

Why we love first looks!

If you're looking to do a first look to create a special moment for yourselves, I would be honored to scout out the perfect spot to make this happen for you. It is in fact your wedding day. A first look is an opportunity to see your significant other before your wedding ceremony; this serves so many advantages (namely, you get to see them before everyone else does!) including completing almost all of your formal portraits prior to your wedding reception, allowing you the freedom to be fully present with your closest friends and family both at your cocktail hour and dinner. Having more time to spend on making your photographs creative and stress-free is ideal for capturing beautiful moments you'll cherish forever.

On-Location Photography

Finding ideas for inspiration while on location photographing is where we shine, we can break free of the studio and become wireless with the ability to use off-camera flashes to create and capture not only weddings but your portrait photography needs too. I've decided long ago that I wasn't going to be a photographer who stops learning and trying and experimenting with light I use to incorporate the limited sunlight Vermont has to offer.

You've got to be able to photograph in all settings at a moment's notice. It's comparable to working sometimes a twelve-hour day standing most of it, being on the entire time. I tend not to schedule a wedding the following day or within the same weekend as this helps me refresh, relax and focus on the upcoming

Wedding Photography Business

It hasn't been an easy road the last couple of wedding photography seasons as a Vermont wedding photographer. Whether we were following state or federal guidance or specific restrictions provided by a wedding venue. Your safety is of the utmost importance for us, I've been fully vaccinated since last April. I'll be receiving the booster as well when it's made available to me. Here's some helpful information regarding Covid-19 from the folks at Vermont Weddings.

What can we offer you that's just included as a perk of working with us, we have a vast network of wedding vendors who we've grown to love and trust as our working relationships over the years have developed organically from seeing each other at numerous weddings and events. To be honest wedding photographers are pretty competitive and knowing that I'm not the type of wedding photographer who will book more than one wedding in a weekend. As I want to make sure that I'm well-rested and prepared to photograph for sometimes over 10 hours. I have the ability to work under and handle the pressure of any wedding day staying within sometimes a tight timeline. I want to make sure I'm bringing my creative and unique point of view from photographing the details to your wedding guests, to the bouquet toss to get low on the dancefloor. Being assertive yet professional to make sure your family and friends are in the photos you're really looking for to put in your wedding album or to give them a nice framed print.

We pivoted and started focusing more on learning, currently, I'm studying to receive my Certified Professional Photographer from the Professional Photographers of America. I've dusted off my textbook reading skills, and yes oh yes I will be making flashcards. Too bad the sweet trapper keepers from elementary school are no longer available, I guess I'll just have to take notes in a moleskin notebook as an adult. They could have a little fun with the covers, I would like a unicorn one with rainbows in the background. I never want to stop learning as it's the key to being successful in the wedding industry, I've got to make sure I stay up with the times.

B. Farnum Photography isn't just LGBTQ+ Friendly

Being that I'm a gay man I try really hard to make sure I'm using inclusive language that a lot of photographers are not. Does this make me an expert? No. Will I make mistakes, absolutely? I know that I do not know everything thing there is to know. I'm always learning ways to make others feel like they matter. There are many more types of weddings besides the traditional weddings in Vermont. I try and stay away from saying Bride and Groom and will use couple or partner so I'm not speaking to only one specific type of couple. I know this seems counterintuitive to what other wedding photographers are doing. Focusing on the majority of couples throughout Vermont and New England who're looking for a wedding photographer.

I'm not everyone else, it matters to me that EVERYONE is welcome at B. Farnum Photography. There does seem to be some lag in the wedding industry when most of the wedding shows are called Bridal Shows so If there's a Wedding Expo (a more gender-neutral term)I would totally be willing to attend this event to promote my wedding photography business. Trying to stay away from hetero-normative language that makes us feel unwelcome and alienated is really important to me. Am I always going to use an inclusive language no if I'm writing about a specific wedding where there's a Bride and Groom I'll refer to them as such. It's a little bit more important to me to make sure I meet all of the needs of my couples.

Providing Vermont wedding photography is just one of the focuses of B. Farnum Photography we would love to photograph your destination weddings, family, high school senior, party, or event. Our business is centered around people so if you know someone in need of a photographer please spread the word. Contact us about pricing and availability.
